If you don't know already, I love sunflower seeds, and, a few days ago, I found out that I'm not the only one.
It started with Gabriel begging and being all cute right next to me while I was munching on the lovely seeds, and, out of curiosity, I let him sniff them to see if he would like one. He DID. Weird, right?
It gets weirder. Apparently, sunflower seeds are actually GOOD for your cat, providing protein, minerals (manganese, folate, selenium, copper, magnesium, and phosphorous), and vitamins (E, B1, and B5). In addition, the seeds have plenty of fiber, which aids in digestion. Still don't believe me?
Well, cats use both smell and taste to choose food that is healthy for them. This means that cats generally want things that hold essential nutrients for their bodies.
Now, this doesn't mean you should go and start giving your cat a surplus of human food, and you shouldn't give him or her too much of ANYTHING. Basically, if it's a natural food, look it up online. It's better to check than do unintentional harm. Just like carrots, sunflower seeds need to be prepared a certain way, which is no shells and little, if any, salt. ABSOLUTELY no artificial flavoring!
That's all, for now, cat lovers! Bye, or, should I say, meow~ ;3
